Job Description
Chief Engineer must possess at a minimum a NaƟonal Engineer Officer Endorsement on their MerchantMariner CredenƟal (MMC) for “Chief Engineer (Limited) of Motor Propelled Vessels of less than 1600Gross Registered Tons (GRT) upon Near Coastal" without a horsepower limitaƟon to receive ChiefEngineer (CHE) pay at the 24-hour Day rate of $731.30.An individual in possession of a NaƟonal Engineer Officer Endorsement on their MMC as "DesignatedDuty Engineer of Motor Propelled Vessel of less than 500 GRT" without a horsepower limitaƟon shallreceive Chief Engineer (DDA) pay at the 24-hour Day rate of $648.90.Assistant Engineers must at a minimum have a NaƟonal Engineer Officer Endorsement on their MMC as"Assistant Engineer (Limited) of Motor Propelled Vessels of less than 1600 GRT upon near Coastal" with aminimum of 6000 horsepower" to receive Assistant Engineer (ATE) pay. If an Assistant Engineer isworking in the Chief Engineer assigned posiƟon but does not have a qualifying endorsement for theChief Engineer classificaƟon, the employee shall conƟnue to be paid as an Assistant Engineer. ATE 24-hour Day rate is $587.10.A mariner possessing a MMC with a NaƟonal Engineer Officer Endorsement as “Designated DutyEngineer of Motor Propelled Vessel of not more than 4000 horsepower of less than 500 GRT” shallreceive Designated Duty Engineer (Limited) (DDL) pay when assigned to an Engineer posiƟon. DDL 24-hour Day rate is $587.10.
